Job Description:

Technical Documentation Specialist

Location: Remote

Duration: 12+ months

Rate: $50-55/hr. On W2

We are seeking a Technical Documentation Specialist to own, maintain, and continuously improve technical documentation used to support internal and external audit requirements for our cyber recovery / Isolated Recovery Environment (IRE) program. This role will be responsible for producing clear, accurate, and audit-ready documentation across network, architecture, security, infrastructure, standards, controls, and program strategy . The ideal candidate will be experienced in enterprise infrastructure environments and comfortable working with multiple SMEs to gather, validate, and organize complex technical and controls-related information.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and update technical documentation for cyber recovery / IRE initiatives and supporting environments
• Produce and manage both high-level and low-level design documentation
• Maintain documentation covering network, architecture, security, infrastructure, standards, controls, and program strategy
• Ensure documentation is accurate, current, well-structured, version-controlled , and suitable for internal and external audit review
• Partner with engineering, infrastructure, security, architecture, and program stakeholders to gather inputs and validate content
• Engage with multiple SMEs to capture technical detail and translate it into clear, consistent documentation
• Track design, control, and infrastructure changes and reflect them in documentation in a timely manner
• Support documentation governance, review cycles, and approval workflows
• Identify documentation gaps, outdated content, and areas requiring stronger audit evidence or control traceability
• Support audit and review activities by organizing and presenting required documentation and related materials

Required Background

• Strong experience creating and maintaining technical documentation in complex enterprise environments
• Ability to develop both high-level and detailed technical design documents with clarity and precision
• Solid understanding of enterprise infrastructure, networking, security, architecture, and controls-related concepts
• Experience preparing documentation for internal audit, external audit, or similar governance and review processes
• Strong attention to detail, document quality, version control, and traceability
• Strong written communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Background

• Background in enterprise infrastructure build and supporting documentation across complex environments
• Familiarity with control frameworks, audit readiness, governance processes, and evidence expectations
• Experience working with documentation standards, repositories, review cycles, and approval workflows
• Ability to engage with multiple SMEs across infrastructure, security, architecture, and program teams to gather and validate content
• Strong ability to synthesize inputs from different stakeholders into clear, consistent, and professional documentation
